Welcome to this second issue of This month in Outer Wonders! Just like every month, we're publishing this special blog post to highlight the progress we made in the making of Outer Wonders over the last month. We're in March 2021, so let's talk about the progress made in February 2021!
Implementing cutscenes through scripting
Outer Wonders will feature a storyline. In order to implement it, we built a visual scripting tool for internal use. More on this in our previous blog post.
As of today, we are able to create cutscenes akin to the following one.
Towards livelier in-game environment
Batpoussin has worked on making the in-game environment look livelier. Check out how some parts of the environment are now animated without requiring prior interaction!
More improvements for the upcoming playable demo!
Additional improvements have been implemented to make the game experience even more pleasant. First, going from one puzzle to another one now triggers a fade-in/fade-out transition.
We now have support for multiple languages as well. Until today, we only supported one language: english. But starting today, our technology is more language-aware, so we can build support for additional languages, including french.
Before we end this blog post, we have an announcement for you... the playable demo of Outer Wonders will be landing on itch.io on April 2nd! We're so impatient to put this first game experience in your hands.
